Begin today, I will use this thread to post my updated of my ATLAS dictionary.

I will use this thread to ask for translation help in some words that I not understand too.

IMPORTANT READLINES:

Remember, my dictionary is useless If you guys not add all names of the characters that exist in getchu page. Mostly of the names of people in Japan means as well common nouns and sometimes even verbs (!) . Then, is necessary to add these names to atlas dictionary to avoid translation mistakes. all games that exist in my list of games (LINK) already have ALL names of ALL characters that exist in the respective getchu page of each game.

Rememebr as well that several words have 2 VERY DIFFERENT meanings , then, I cannot do anything.

See these 3 examples:

彼女 (kanojo) means the pronoun "she" , but, as well means the noun "girlfriend". Then, I cannot add this word like "girlfriend" in my dictionary because this will create terrible translations mistakes. Then, when you see a guy saying "this is my she" Or "I not have a she" or "I want a she" this "she" means "girlfriend" . Just use your good sense.

おかず (okazu) means "side dish" ( the food, accompaniment for rice dishes ) but, means too "material for assisting arousal during masturbation" . Then, when a guy say "I used the picture of my own mother like side dish" , this means that the guy used the picture of his own mother like inspiration for masturbation.

分 Is the same kanji, but, have 2 pronunciations: When is pronounced like "fun" , means "minute" ( minute of time ) , but, when is pronounced like "bun" , means "a part of something" . ATLAS cannot recognize a pronounce of a kanji, then, use your brain: When you see a text where a guy is eating a cake with his friends, a girl offer a part of the cake for him and say : "here is your minute" this minute means "part of the cake" .

Of course, have more others words that happens the same thing, but, I cannot post in here all these words. Just use your good sense.

To help in this kind of situation, is good to use JWPce and EDICT dictionary. I already talked about it in the follow 2 links:

Please, not request help to me about JWPce. I already give to you good tips in the 2 links that I suggested.

JWPce have a BIG "readme" and a guide in english, just read it and you will learn how to use it. For sure, you have a better knowledge of english than me.

About ATLAS Dictionary by fhc:

All words that exist in my ATLAS dictionary are words that I found in hentai games. I never add words that I found outside of hentai games, because my dictionary is only to be used playing hentai games.
in the list that you can found in this thread ( more below ) you can see the name of games that I played recently. Then, I added in my dictionary all words from these games that not exist in ATLAS yet, then, If you play one of these games, you will notice some improvement in the translation of ATLAS. Of course, I just added in this list the games that I played recently, because I already played SO MANY hantai games that I even remember the name of all these games anymore.

in my dictionary you not found only nouns, but, a LOT of verbs, adjectives and adverbs.

first, unzip ( of course )

go to>

ATLAS MAIN WINDOW > TOOL > MANAGEMENT MENU > MERGE DICTIONARY DATA > ADD > now select the file

About SYSTRAN Dictionary by fhc:

This explanation is very basic. SYSTRAN have a VERY BIG help in english explaining everything very well. If you not understand my explanation, read the HELP of SYSTRAN. Please, not ask for help to me about how to use this software.

My project of Personal Dictionary of SYSTRAN is different from ATLAS: in ATLAS I add adjectives, verbs, adverbs ( all grammar things ) However, in SYSTRAN I only add NAMES of character of games that I already played.

Because SYSTRAN is like a "assistance" of ATLAS. ATLAS is my main translator.

I only use SYSTRAN in sentences that ATLAS cannot translate very well, and in sentences with a LOT of hiragana. ATLAS is not good with sentences with a LOT of hiragana, however, SYSTRAN is VERY GOOD with hiragana. ATLAS is better with kanjis. Other bad thing in ATLAS is the fact that ATLAS have difficult to recognize words with a unique kanji, ATLAS is better to recognize words with 2 or more kanjis, for instance, If exist 2 words together , but, each word is just a unique kanji, ATLAS mix the 2 kanjis creating a new word. SYSTRAN not make this kind of mistake. However, have few words with a unique kanji, then, don't worry. But, because of this, I always use SYSTRAN when I notice that ATLAS make a translation mistake. But, really, is not all the time that it happens.

However, a terrible thing about SYSTRAN is the few number of words in his dictionary ( ATLAS have more than 5 X more words ) and the fact that SYSTRAN not have a "automatically clipboard translation" like ATLAS )

The guy that wrote the texts of this game is SO LAZY that him only use kanjis when it is really absolutely necessary. almost ALL TEXTS are wrote most using hiragana characters and few words are wrote in kanji. Is almost impossible to translate this only with ATLAS, we need to use SYSTRAN to translate most of the texts correctly.

However, of course, ATLAS is much more better that SYSTRAN. only use SYSTRAN is texts with a LOT of hiragana, or, in texts that ATLAS really not translated very well.

Run "SYSTRAN 6 Dictionary Mngr"

File > Import > choose the file named "DIC_SYSTRAN_6_of_fhc"

more help read the help of SYSTRAN, ok ?

About the Duplicated Words

SatinCreamDelight pointed a interesting matter about it in the post #9 of this thread. Just follow the subsequent posts until the post #21 to see the final result of this discussion.

in summary, I will begin to make 2 files: the "main file" with ALL words of my dictionary and the "updated file" just with the new words of the last update. Not forget to read the posts to understand more about it ( I am tired to wrote about it ) this discussion is finished and we already found the solution.

All games listed in here have, at least, all names of the characters that exist in getchu page added in my ATLAS dictionary, even the games that I played only "the beginning of the game" . Before I begin to play a game, I always add all characters names first. I always do like this.

The games that I played until the mid of the game or until the ending of the game have a LOT of words that I found in the game that ATLAS not recognized yet. All these words I added in my ATLAS dictionary.

FHC, you need to start posting UPDATED extraction dictionaries by date, instead of your entire dictionary alone for Atlas.

The problem is that EVERY time a user updates their "user dictionary" with yours, it will add ALL the words from it a second time. This means that user dictionaries DOUBLE in size with repeats (ie it will add an existing word in the user dictionary again), slowing the entire translation program down.

If somebody was to update their dictionary multiply times with your dictionaries this will eventually lead to a VERY LARGE dictionary containing the same words multiple times.

Re-indexing the dictionary will only put it into alphabetical order (it will not remove duplicate words) and Atlas is not smart enough to only add words that aren't already present.

Obviously when YOU add words to your own dictionary FHC, this doesn't occur because your using the same dictionary (not adding another one to it), but users who use your dictionary for updates multiply times - this becomes a problem. It can REALLY slow down translation.

SO this is how I'd create NEW updates if this was my dictionary thread.

I would post 2 files.

One file would be my "entire dictionary" for newbies, the other would be an "updated extraction file" containing new words since my last post.

How do you do that? Okay so lets say you post your last update on March 11 and plan to post your next dictionary update April 1.

What you do is:

go into Atlas > tools > management menu > extract dictionary data > select your user dictionary > click "extract words entered after specified day" > then select the date since your last update (example March 11) > push okay

Them, I will be forced to make a new post for each new update, to attach the new file just with the new words... The moderators will think that I am "flooding" this thread. In one year this thread will become FULL of updates. The moderators , probably, will become unhappy with this... You explain this trouble to the moderators for they allow me to do it ?

Oh yes I'm very sure. I spent 3 hours REMOVING duplicate words by extracting the dictionary as a txt file, because in-program it takes too long.

But don't believe me?

Try this test:

FIRST back up your user dictionary files JUW0001.dic and EUW0001.dic by copy and pasting them else where.

THEN add your extracted dictionary BACK into your own dictionary.

Then look up any "user added" word and you will see TWO entries. If you add your dictionary again then it will add THREE entries of the same word.

The atlas tools program will not remove duplicate words because it cannot tell the difference - I think this is to allow different definitions of the same word.

The only way to physically clean the file of duplicated words, is by removing them in atlas or (easier) to extract your dictionary as a txt file and do it manually.

I don't see why you have to spam the thread, simply add TWO files instead of one. Keep updating the same topic post or something. You don't need to post new message every time.
