  • New Mods for AG3

    Hello everyone!

    I have good news and bad news. First the good news:

    I have completed a mod that adds 22 hair styles from "The Sims 3" to the AG3 Character Maker using Darkhound's Illusion Wizzard. Most credit goes to The Sims 3 artists, to tmvaegis and mk2000 for converting the meshes, and to hereaus for converting to gray-scale and combining them into a manual-install mod. I only adjusted the brightness and contrast to make the hair more healthy looking, lighter and easier to color, and then I made the mod ready for use with Illusion Wizzard.

    Now the bad news:

    I cannot release my mod properly because I cannot post any images. Apparently, I am out of space for attachments here, and I have not yet made the 30 posts required to upload to the gallery. Can you believe that I have been here since 2008, and I have even released several mods, but I have not yet made 30 posts? Maybe you can help me reach 30 posts so I can upload to the gallery by having a conversation here.

    Now in other news:

    I am also working a mod that adds many of the random hairstyles that I found on UV and other places, sort of like Saev's RealDolls HairStyle Pack. I don't know much about AG3 hair, but I know hairstyle mods often contain three files (an xx file, a kys file, and a tga file). so I am trying to only use hairstyles in my mod that have all three files. Rarely, I also see hairstyle mods with uv files, and I include them when I find them, but there are so few that I cannot limit myself to these hairstyles.

    There are some hairstyles that I like, but they only have an xx file. I can use these hairstyles on my girls by inserting the xx files into the girl's pp file after character creation, and some of them work well. I would like to include these in my mod, but I worry they won't work in the Character Maker because they only have xx files. Maybe I don't need these other files? Or maybe I can extract these files from the xx files somehow? Any thoughts?

    I have other mods I am working on too, but will save discussion of those for my next post. I have to reach 30, you know!

    An update:

    I released the mod I discuss above, that adds 22 hairstyles from "The Sims 3" to the AG3 Character Maker using Darkhound's Illusion Wizzard. You can see the post here:

    I am now working on another hairstyle mod that features various hair-styles I found on uppervolta and other places. These match much better with the original AG3 hairstyles, so they still look good when combined with original front or back hairstyles (unlike the Sims 3 hairstyles).

    I'm also working on a release of clothing textures that I have made simple modifications to.

      Another update:

      I released the second hairstyle mod, this time with 70 new styles that actually move in-game when your girl moves. Most have semen textures and the "Forelock Length" slider works too! You can check it out here:

      Next, I am considering updating the AG3 Map Pack 6.0 to include the latest maps, and to improve the way the maps are linked together so that places are easier to find. I get so annoyed when I have to drag a girl across 5 maps to get where I want to go, and then she has to pee and runs all the way back!

        Hello Drenched, i was thinking about updating the Map Pack, maybe we can release an alternate map pack with only some of the maps, since there are over a hundred maps already, it will take a lot of transitions points (doors). The reason behind this is what you complain about in your post, dragging the girls to the maps and they getting away to do something. We can add a very good portion of the maps to the downtown area, the temple, the beach, white room, street, school, etc. and have maps that take 2 to 3 transitions, and also add peeing and sleeping places in some of the maps to cover the point of the girls running away. Let me know what you think.

          An overdue update:

          I've been busy with real life, but have more free time now, so perhaps with Viper13's help the final AG3 Map Pack can be completed. I've finished a chart showing how all of the maps can be connected in logical way so that most maps are within 3 transition points from either the Street or the Shops. Only about a dozen maps will require 4 transitions to reach, and only two require 5 transitions. You can download the full-sized chart yourself and offer comments or suggestions.

          Does anyone know which map the icon alone in the upper left of the chart represents, or where to find it in-game?

          Viper13, thanks for your thoughts! I'm open to reducing the number of maps, but perhaps you'll agree that our concerns are addressed by the map arrangement on the chart? I have considered reducing the number of maps simply to reduce the final file-size. I'd love to have new toilets and beds for the girls to pee and sleep, and hadn't even considered that because it is currently beyond my modding skills.

          Below is a re-post from the AG3 Mod Discussion thread (which seems to be malfunctioning now, in that it will show me recent activity but not a complete list of posts in the thread). Oh, and my last hairstyle mod has hundreds of downloads, so thank you to everyone still playing AG3!

          AG3 Ultimate Map Pack?

          I'm working on a new map pack that does more than just add the newer maps. The most recent AG3 map pack (6.0) includes some very thoughtful work (special thanks to unmei220 and hereaus), but because different people tacked on nearly 100 maps as they were released randomly over the years, navigating parts of the game-world can feel like a senseless and frustrating maze.

          With the advantage of hindsight, these maps can be re-arranged into a more logically coherent game-world, with most maps positioned closer to "home" for easier access. By also adding some new in-game graphics to help players find their way, I think the world can feel intuitive and inviting again, fun and easy to explore. Some goals:

          To include newer maps:

          Here is a list of fun newer maps that I know of, which are not included in the current 6.0 pack. Please link to any I have missed:

          - School Art Room
          - Sex Shop

          * Capt Jam and XnonameX *
          - Gentleman's Club

          * Viper13 *
          - Teacher's Lounge

          Currently, these maps must be installed separately, and most replace other fun maps in the pack. For example, I really like the City Slum, but it replaces the nice Park map. These maps are all enjoyable to play, and should have their own place in the world.

          Arranged for convenience:

          It's no fun dragging your girl across half-a-dozen maps to reach the perfect destination, only for her to decide to pee and run all the way back! I'm working on a chart showing how the maps in the pack can be linked together with most maps only three "hops" (transition points) or less from either the Street or the Shops. (Update: View Completed Chart)

          Logically consistent world:

          Currently, if I go to the Shrine and explore the hidden cave, and I look behind the evil altar there, I will find a secret portal to... a windmill in Holland? Surely one would expect reach Holland and all of Yuusha-world using the airport, and expect something more evil looking, such as a Bible Black room, hidden behind the evil altar?

          Graphics to aid navigation:

          The many doors inside both the train-cars are so confusing! Each door could have the sign above it indicate the destination. The Shops map could also have accurate signs above the various attractions and shop entrances, and the airport could serve multiple destinations with travel options displayed on the overhead screens there.

          Challenges to overcome:

          I've learned to change the destinations of the transition points, so I can implement most of my chart myself, and I can probably also replace the graphics inside xx files to introduce some of the in-game signs. However, my Metasequoia skills are garbage, and so far my attempts to add or move transition points on a map have failed.

          If any of you skilled map modders (see names above) share an interest in releasing this map pack, perhaps help me figure out what I am doing wrong, or I can provide you with a short list of maps that need transition points added or moved. I would also welcome any help with creating graphics for in-game signs.

            AG3 Map Pack v7.0 (Ultimate) Released!

            This has finally been completed thanks to help from Viper13, who was kind enough to write for me a clear and concise manual about how to add and move transition points in Artificial Girl 3.

            All of the features that I had outlined above, and many more, are included in this map pack. I find playing AG3 is much more immersive and satisfying with convenient access to so many maps!
